hmm

Thanks Victor
however I already downloaded the .iso file and burned it with Isoburner on my WinME notebook.
I thought some of the problems I have found using NTFS4DOS could be caused by this but otherwise UBCD boots fine

Just to be sure...

Since UBCD is not dependant on the OS - as I understood it - it doesn't matter under what Operating System you burn the ISO file to a CD... right? Or perhaps it has to be done under the same OS of the computer I am trying to fix? :? ...because when trying to burn UBCD to a USB stick it warns that it...

Hello Victor it's a program supposed to work also under dos especially to restore the registry at a given date. It's ERDNT.EXE and the program is ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility for NT) I used it sometimes (but from inside XP) and it works fine - but when I start it from NTFS4DOS iit begins its ta...

executable launch?

After many hours and a considerable work with NTFS4DOS (computer almost hangs after every operation, error msgs, out of memory, failing copy etc) I could set up the registry recovery backups in a good folder and correct the INF references to the E: drive which NTFS4DOS reads (it's my standard C:). N...

WORKS BUT...

NFTS support works for me but mainly in readonly mode... when I try to RENAME or SAVE AS files after editing under NTFS4DOS I get an INVALID OPCODE error and have to reboot... it's a real headache

NTFS4DOS in UBCD - not so useful?

NTFS4DOS is supposed to allow me to see, edit, save files in NFTS partitions... is it? However when I modify a .INF file according to changed drive name in order to restore a registry backup I cannot SAVE it (it keeps saying INVALID OPCODE AT XXXX XXXX XXXX ......) and by the way NTFS4DOS doesn't se...

Yes it should but

Thanks for yr advice Victor first: do u think I could solve the problem editing system.ini as Constance suggested? I cannot see any refernce to that OOTMAPI.DLL in system.ini nor in win.ini (the damn diagnostic was supposed to start BEFORE loading Windows) second: yes I tried NTFS4DOS ...do u know w...

Why not

I would try this for sure.... but I have to access system.ini and edit it, and that doesn't seem possible at least with this software (if I don't miss something that is)

hmm

Thnx for answering Constance... well in FreeDos with NFTS support enabled I get there (the harddisk is now E: instead of C:) E:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\AUTOBACKUP\<backupday>\ but then I cannot edit (and save) the INF file to change the C: references to E: nor can I launch the ERDNT.EXE executable that would ...

All OK but.... how does it work actually??

I downloaded the ISO burned it to a CD and booted my XP computer that won't otherwise boot in windows due to a pre-windows diagnostic program (O&OBLUECON) installed and uninstalled (now blue screen saying it's missing a OOTMAPI.DLL). I thought I could just boot with UBCD, go under the windows fo...
