Anything that tests PCI or devices on PCI will be testing your southbridge. RAM and AGP tests will not.

aero has a good question, is there software on ubcd that shouldn't be, because of its license? I think isolinux / syslinux is under GPL, and wouldn't ubcd be considered a derivative work, therefore under GPL or compatible license? V5 comes with a SIMPL license, but I am not finding a license on V4.

it might be a bios password. could be a default password, what type of laptop is it? On some PCs you can blank the bios password by removing the cmos battery. I've never seen a password prompt using the cd.

Thanks Victor, I thought it was something I was doing wrong. And thank you for all your work on the ubcd, I've been using it for years now and its helped me out a lot.

Can't Get McAfee to Work, Anyone else?

I have updated the .dat files and mcafee loads with updated definitions, scans memory, but freezes the computer when it tries to access my hard drive, which is on d:. NTFS hard drive, but I checked the option for NTFS during startup, and it seems to access NTFS from other applications OK.
