Re: Flashing Dell BIOS from UBCD v5

Hello and thank you for showing interest in my question :] Are you saying that you were/are trying to use on UBCD 5.3.3 the same method of DOS customization that used to work for UBCD 4.1.1? I'm saying I tried to flash the BIOS of some Dell computers using a DOS environment provided by Ultimate Boot...

Flashing Dell BIOS from UBCD v5

Hello there .o/ I've tried making a tutorial for someone on another forum about how to make a custom version of UBCD 5.3.3 so he could update his Dell Dimension 9100's BIOS before upgrading to a better CPU. Basically I told him how to make a custom CD using the built-in ubcd2iso, then to boot on &qu...

Re: [REQ] HWiNFO / HWiNFO32 for chapter "System"

Nice ^^
I thought the DOS version was not freeware, unlike the Windows one, but maybe it changed recently, for the site now does state it is freeware too :]

Hi there ^^
I suppose you may have figured that out already by now, but there is a "DOS/Linux boot disks" menu item. That's where you should start.
Once you selected the DOS boot disk you want to use, quickly press F5 to bypass autoexec stuff.

UBCD actually does not let you login to Windows as far as I know, or at least it's not designed for it.
If you want a LiveCD Windows environment to access your computer, you'd better look for UBCD4Win ^^

OK, I've had a quick look at the tuto you gave a link to, and the only thing that seemed not applicable was the method to create the ISO.

Now you should use ubcd2iso instead.

Hello there ^^

Have a look at the UBCD V4 Tutorials & How-Tos section. Should find what you need there, I guess :)

Hello ^^ I'd first try running a system repair from the Windows XP install disk, and if that fails, try to diagnose a little more if it is only a filesystem issue or a physical fault on the hdd (well, the LBA thingy makes me fear it would be the second). If that's a physical error on the surface I'd...

Well yeah, you just need to make a proper MS DOS or Win9x bootable floppy, maybe add a few utilities on it (the sys external command would be fine ^^), then add your floppy image to UBCD (see the Tutorials and HowTos section) Of course, you'll need a FAT16 partition for DOS 6.22, and FAT16 or FAT32 ...

Hello there :]

I'd recommend trying with UBCD4Win (you'll need to build it from another, working computer), that's the most simple way of copying files from a NTFS volume when you can't boot on your own working system.

Re: Please help test UBCD V5.0b1

Hi there :) - Modified Erwin's DOS boot disk and added a "Default" bootup option that will skip all config dialogs, so it will boot much faster. All dosapps are now packaged as ZIP files that are unzipped to the RAM drive before execution. When booting with that option, I've noticed an err...

Hi there ^^

Start by reading a few topics in the "Tutorials and HowTos" section, that will give you a good overview of the UBCD's working principles.
If you know how to add stuff, you'll see clearly enough how to remove some ;)

It would probably be easier with a UBCD4Win since you could have a windows environment to backup your files to USB keys.
