This was more than likely the Diagnostic tool partition. It is a hidden partition at the begining of the drive that contains the Dell only diag tools. That would explain why it was partition 2 originally but Partition 1 afterwards.

I concur as it sounds to me like he got either a infection of some sort or a hacker got in. Could be one of the new ransomware that is floating around. Although I have not heard it kill a system like this... Maybe some of the tools here could help but I would also give the UBCD4Win a try as well as ...

Doesn't your PXE setup allow for iso boots? I know most PXE loaders have HD Image and iso boot options on the back end. Infact where I work, I have loaded 3 differant iso's onto our backend for me to play with on users machine to allow me to do alot of things. I would double check your options again...

I would recommend using a free program called IMGBurn to burn the iso to a disk. A ISO is image of a disk with the boot sector and all the files listed in the particular way that they are supposed to be on the disk. It is a CD ready to go it just to be burned to a CD to work. IMGBurn will only handl...

Are you sure you are talking about UBCD and not UBCD4Win? If there is a multitude of files and folders then you are looking at the UBCD4Win builder. The UBCD does in fact contain the iso. It is one file with no folders when extracted. Many archivers such as winrar will associate iso files to open wi...

1) wrong forum. You need to go see ubcd4win.com/forum for that info. 2) That is not a trojan at all. It is a tool that is very valuable but could be used by the bad guys to do bad things. It gets flagged by most AV companies due to its possibly being used for bad things. It is one reason why i hate ...

Off the top of my head... I think that the disk wipe utilities are not in fact hidden. Do you notice on most entries that if you press left arrow and right arrow you can scroll pages? I believe that this is the "hidden" location of those utils. It is actually a nice feature to have when yo...

To quote another board that deals with free open source projects.... It will be done when it is done and not a second earlier. Be patient. The people who modify and bring this together are not being paid to do it. They volunteer there free time to do these things. Demanding updates will get you noth...

I don't know of any editors for CDShell but i do know that you can run the bcw.com and it will open up a command prompt and you can test to see if your menu comes up and how it looks and such. You can't test your images that way but menu edits you can. Simply copying an existing and editing that usu...

keyfinder... gotcha. What that nice little tool is all about is simply allowing you to see what product keys are installed for your MS products and maybe a few others as well. It is not malicious by itself. If in the wrong hands (1337 h4x0rz) it can be used to steal the product keys of valid product...

Due to several of the utilities that are included in the UBCD4Win, many times a year several AV vendors accidentally detect trojans and such when there is none. Another thing that pops up is that some files are flagged as hacktools and some people confuse that for trojans as well. Not that you have,...

What apps did you use to burn? I would reciommend if you have not used it IMGBURN. It is free and is a very small download. It is the best app I have seen for people who get confused how to work with ISO's and even for the more advanced as all it does is work with ISO's. There is no confusion in usi...

There is no 100% way to say without knowing exactly what system it is and such. It basically comes down to this. Set the CD to boot in BIOS. If you have 2 CD/DVD drives, use the top one first. If it doesn't boot, try the second drive. If it still does not boot, try the disk in another computer. If i...

It did as this is not the same project as the UBCD4Win. UBCD is a DOS based disk and is freely distributable whilst the UBCD4Win is a builder and not a complete ISO. It will never be sent as a complete ISO as it contains XP source files. The builder does not so it can be distributed. Due to the diff...

Jason, Forget Nero and forget what you have done so far... Just forget it. Go to http://www.imgburn.com/ and download and install IMGBurn. Run IMGBurn and select the UBCD.iso you have. Burn the disk. Follow those directions and I guarantee that it will work. How you are getting that other stuff is a...

No idea what those commands are... I also have no idea what those commands are. As for there being only one file on the disk, you burned the iso to the disk. You need to have your burning software open the iso as a project and have it burn the contents. As an easier version of a burning app, I highl...

If you open the CD inside of Windows, do you see a bunch of files and folders or just a single file? If a bunch of files and folders then something got modified or something. If a single files, then you burned the iso file to the disk and not the iso contents. That is a common mistake...
