Use UBCD to create an Image of your Hard Drive for Recovery
Damaged hard drives usually only get progressively worse the more they are used and when there is hardware damage they can lag. So the first thing you should always do is make an image of your Hard Drive. (Tutorial from http://www.myfixlog.com/fix.php?fid=21 ) You will need an External HD to do this...
