Hi,

The password set should be "idrive" (no quotes, lower case).

Are you using v4.0 of the HDDerase.exe program?

Where now for UBCD v5.0 beta?

Hi, I note that the b12 build has been out for some time. Are there any outstanding issues with this build which need fixing? Will there be a b13 released to test any outstanding problems. What plans are there (if any) to release v5.0 assuming there are no outstanding issues to be resolved. Kind Reg...

Hi Victor, If you have not already looked at it then you might also want to include SecureErase from: http://cmrr.ucsd.edu/people/Hughes/SecureErase.shtml This tool uses the drives own secure overwrite commands to delete data from the drive itself, including a Secure Erase option. This utility has b...

Hi, Perhaps rather than using INSERT you might want to look into alternatives such as: SystemRescueCD ( http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page ) or even the Trinity Rescue Kit ( http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?wpid=1&front_id=12 ) These are actively maintained and include NTFS support and many...

Hi, From the FAQ then the password for version 3.3 should be "idrive" as there are no reported changes. If this is not working then perhaps you could contact the author to see if there are any other possible passwords. Failing that then perhaps the drive has a default password? If so then ...

Hi, XOSL used to be a very good Boot Manager and would hide and unhide partitions as you wanted. Remember that Vista and XP use partitions in a different way so unless XOSL2 has been updated to support Vista it may not work correctly. In addition modern BIOS's sometimes have an issue with booting vi...

Hi,

This update to HDDErase is actually quite serious as it fixes an issue with using ATA Secure Erase commands so they actually work.

Are there any plans to release UBCD 4.1.2 with this and other updates in the near future?

Kind Regards

MemTest86+ 1.70 Released

Hi,

As per the subject, a new version of Memtest86+ has been released.

The change log can be found here:

http://www.memtest.org/#change

Can this be included in the next release of UBCD?

Any further news on a release schedule for this?

Kind Regards

Good News and a NTFS4DOS update ...

Hi Victor, That is good to hear; new versions are always nice to see ;) I noted this new program release earlier today which might be useful for UBCD in the future. It seems that there is now a free version of NTFS4DOS which allows reads and writes. This can be downloded from Avira, the folks who pr...

Disable USB Legacy support

Hi,

Check that you have USB legacy support disabled in your BIOS setup.

Some BIOSes have a bug in them which causes memtest to write over the memory area used by the USB legacy support resulting in freezes or reboots.

Other memory tests may show the same issues.

Are any future releases currently being planned?

If so what new or updated features might they include? :D

Hi, There is a version of Ghost 8.0 (Ghost32.exe) which will work within a Windows XP or Windows PE type environment. Ghost32.exe basically looks like the earlier DOS lever versions of Ghost, and works in the same way. It can image within Windows as long as you are not attempting to image the boot p...
