i want to apply a drive utility to it but there is no toshiba manufasturer in the drive tests what do i do?

i cannot format my 1st partition (system is on this) from windows setup,i get a msg saying that it cannot be formatted, i can delete the partition and create it but not format it. what are my options here, i also must tell u that i have a second partition available but in there i have all of my valu...
