Re: Prime95

Try finding the results.txt in /tmp/torture-test/torture.* for any mprime log message. That file would be stored in RAM for as long as the program is running, right? I'd be more interested in a log file that is permanently saved (to the bootable USB). Especially seeing how on error you might get a ...

Re: Prime95

EDIT: I found out this page and the key is using -ubcdargs , so the last line should be APPEND noapic ubcdcmd=mprime27 ubcdargs='-m' and it will bring up the setup dialog. The next version of CPUstress image (v2.5.2) will support the torture test options without ubcdargs='-m'. I implemented the set...

I cannot determine whether your problem is in your PXE server, the UBCD, the tools you selected, or your computer hardware. You didn't provide enough information.

Re: Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

Are those not relevant (anymore)? The ext2 support was needed in the previous initrd format. Since I have switched to initramfs (compressed cpio) format, they are not relevant anymore. (The entire image will be run on memory. I have no intention to support hard disk access in cpustress.) Does this ...

Include TestDisk (for DOS) in FDUBCD?

The current version of UBCD (5.2.7) launches TestDisk in Parted Magic, but I thought it will be useful to include this utility also in FDUBCD. How do people think about this? For PhotoRec, I'm not sure. It's hard to mount partitions in FDUBCD, so including that thing won't be as useful as in Parted ...

Re: Partition Magic takes a LOOOOOOOONG time to scan.

I think you mean Parted Magic instead of Partition Magic. Unfortunately Parted Magic is payware now so UBCD cannot include the latest version. You can buy the latest version of Parted Magic here.

Re: UBCD V5.2.7 is available for download

Not sure if I need to start a new topic, but... Is there any reason to keep this file "boot/syslinux/ldlinux.sys" in the UBCD? I've read the SYSLINUX documentation and I am sure that ldlinux.sys is not used by ISOLINUX in any way. And ldlinux.sys are automatically generated by SYSLINUX installer (wh...

Hey everyone. Look at the text at the new Parted Magic download page https://partedmagic.com/downloads WARNING! A few sites on the internet are offering a file called pmagic_2013_08_01.iso for free download. This version was released with a very destructive USB corruption bug in the Linux kernel. We...

Re: Boot-Repair

The boot-repair CD seems to be a modified Lubuntu LiveCD. Of course we cannot include the whole LiveCD (it will be too big), but if it is possible to make it into a PMagic module, then it can be included in UBCD. boot-repair source code: https://launchpad.net/boot-repair/trunk/kyo/+download/boot-rep...

Re: Explorer's modified XFPROT

@Victor: I found a serious problem in my f-prot and xfprot packaging. When they are unpacked in Parted Magic, they will change the ownership of some important directories like /usr and /etc, from root to user 1000. This might let some programs refuse to run because /usr does not belong to root! I ha...
