UBCD is a DOS based boot CD. UBCD4Win is a Windows (PE - Pre-installed Environment) based boot CD. UBCD is an ISO file that can be directly burned to a CD and UBCD4Win has to be built using your XP source files. The programs included with UBCD4Win are windows based programs whereas the UBCD project ...

Are you still able to get into setup? If it's like the HP/Compaq systems you may want to go to the Dell site and see if you can get that downloaded and reinstalled. Then the image would probably work without the edit. He/You may also be able to run the Dell diags off of a CD and save the hassle of l...

Ad-Aware and Spybot are both already included with UBCD4Win as Constance stated. The AVGAS had a plugin available, but was for the version prior to being bought/taken over by AVG - I forget the exact name but it was something like Eidos or Eiwidos. I'm not sure but another might have been available ...

I think the BIOS is still on the board, but the the hard drive contains the setup program in a hidden partition, which you can download from Compaq/HP. For some systems you can just repartition the drive, but some drives such as the Maxtor 6E040L0 you have to edit the drive to get the full size to s...

I did a Google search and found info about the bios password being set on an EEPROM on these laptops and that you cannot reset by removing the battery anyway.

Here's the link:

Is the password a boot password only? Try going into the BIOS by pressing F2 when the Sony logo appears, if it allows you into the BIOS setup, just reset the password and you should be good to go.. If a BIOS Admin password is set you may not be able to get into the BIOS setup area. Also the RTC batt...

Remove/disconnect the RTC battery and remove the regular battery and let sit for a while - at least a couple minutes and see if that helps. I usually set the jumper to clear or disconnect the bios battery for a while - I'll go get a drink or a bite to eat and reconnect afterward and usually it's fin...

I've been able to get up to version 2.15CE to work, but 2.16 and the new 2.17 keep getting an error " unable to find cd". I've tried the pmedia=cd and idecd and they don't work. Has anyone been able to get the last couple versions of Puppy to work with UBCD?

TIA,

Try booting to a Live Linux Cd like Knoppix or some newer distro > http://distrowatch.serve-you.net/ <. You'll be able to see the drive in a native linux environment and you could use GParted or other partitioning software to clear the partition/drive if needed. You should be able to run some other ...

You'll just have to do a manual search, they are listed. I'm getting a list of 12 of which numbers 9 and 10 are exactly what came with my MS keyboards.

Does the other link work?

Most USB keyboards have a PS2 converter that is included with the keyboard, if you have that converter you can try it.. Try running the memtest over night, sometimes it will be fine for a few iterations and then start to have problems.. Your confusing the UBCD (DOS) and UBCD4Win projects.. If you updated/built a DOS version UBCD and don't plan on updating again - sure.. If you downloaded and built a UBCD4Win CD you can also un-install but if you want to do updates in the future you may want to keep the project in place.. Either way...
