Re: Silent booting DOS Apps

I'm attempting to build a custom image for my company which only consists of imaging software, NT password reset and a specific HDD wiping program. For the record, Windows Millennium Edition (ME) is the worst operating system of Microsoft (based on DOS). Kinda. Comparing any of the Win 9x/ME variants is more akin to judging a "best-in stool sample" award at an farmer's annual cattle convention. Windows 2000 is 100 times better :-) Wa...

Windows 98? You are brave. (-: If memory serves, Windows 98 comes supplied on a CD (you shouldn't need to use a floppy drive). Also, you may want to consider using Windows 2000 instead; the NT kernel used by NT/2000/XP/Vista is far more stable and less prone to system crashes than Win 9x. I had an o...

What does column 3? Why is it sometimes -$$ and sometimes -$? Non sequitur definition: -$ = randomly decides whether or not to format any available partition. -$$ = emails your IP address to the official "Hannah Montana Fanclub" In fact, all it does is pass a parameter to the main UBCD la...

I left the "version" value in because the folks who suggested working on a UBCD customizer app might want to use it to determine the UBCD version. They emailed me earlier about this, and I told them I will include a "version.txt" in the "ubcd" subdir, but since ubcd.in...

@echo off call ubcd2iso.cmd ../../../ ubcd50b5-custom.iso I'm not to keen on this. NwDsk still requires a valid volume ID when using UBCD4.1.1 (it's purely cosmetic for UBCD5.0b5, thus, a non-issue). It would be best to set the volume ID as a constant, one which is designated according to distribut...

It could be a number of issues related to either the hard disk controller driver, the controller itself, the drive, the drive cable or the BIOS. If I didn't remember wrongly, the MS-DOS version of NwDsk was never included with UBCD, but can be downloaded from Erwin's website. You guess it, it was due to possible licensing issues. In all probability, you're most likely correct (I'm not sure why I assumed it was in UBCD 4). However, exception...
