Re: Suggestions for replacement of Parted Magic

Hi, I just joined to point out that the custom modules for Parted magic need not go to waste. Parted Magic is not payware, it is still freeware as everything inside is still GPL software. What this distro maintainer is doing, is charging for a faster download speed from his servers. So if someone w...

Parted Magic includes Clonezilla but it's the CLI version (useless)...

Very unlikely, as its a very specific program, which can be easily added to UBCD yourself. :)

The website (http://www.ubcd4win.com) is still up but the forum has been down for quite a while now. http://whois.domaintools.com/ubcd4win.com Domain was renewed 2012, so someone must know its still there as they are being charged for it. Re: Suggestions for replacement of Parted Magic

The other reason I've found to use Parted Magic is because it comes bundled with Clonezilla... however, the version in the last free Parted Magic does seem to be a bit buggy with some of my machines. Sysresccd doesn't have Clonezilla, but it does have nearly all the tools Clonezilla uses to create ...

Re: Suggestions for replacement of Parted Magic

Curious... Is it possible maybe in the future to create a "bare bones/lite version" if you will, UBCD that doesn't include pmagic, so if people wanted to add a more up to date system OS such as system rescue cd themselves, they could, without increasing the size of the ending ISO or worrying about ...

Re: UBCD V5.2.6 is available for download

More info here: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTQzNTI BTW, download has been removed from SF page. The primary reason why Parted Magic is included in UBCD is primarily due to NTFS access, which is valuable in a system recovery situation. Time to look for another small distro wi...

Re: Windows XP Boot Repair

Can you explain what error you are getting?
And to be honest, after April of next year, XP will no longer be supported by Microsoft.
It is possible to find an XP install disc from torrents, while I don't promote this, you own a legal copy of Windows XP so it's more of last resort.

Re: pm2ubcd script discussion

Yea, I fixed the problem, was in the wrong folder. It boots just fine after merge, cleanup, then running the ubcd2iso to compile the iso. Only thing I noticed was that the Pmagic Version number menu item in UBCD didn't match the Parted Magic version that was detected with your script. Would be aweso...

Re: pm2ubcd script discussion

Should take me about >1 minute to do on my main computer (16gb ram, quadcore 4ghz). So to understand you correctly, use pm2ubcd to merge latest PMagic, then create the iso afterwards using ubcd2iso, and test booting from it, correct?

Re: Memory Test

The all versions of UBCD have memory checking build in. Once booted Select> Memory, then choose one of the choices, most commonly used one is "Memtest86+ V4.20".
