Sounds like its trying to load the 2-3GB ISO image into RAM and runs out of memory (which sounds logical if you have less that 2gb of RAM). Also I may be shooting into the dark but I believe there is a limit to how large a image (ISO or otherwise) can be before you run into other constraints other t...

You don't have copied /BOOTMGR to the root of your drive...... Yes Icecube is also correct - It looks like you didnt copy over the required files from Vista/Win7 cds. Need at least the follow (F: is my usb drive): F:\BOOTMGR F:\BOOT F:\BOOT\BCD F:\BOOT\BOOT.SDI F:\BOOT\bootsect.exe F:\BOOT\ETFSBOOT...

BOOT.WIM should be: F:\SOURCES\BOOT.WIM (not F:\(BOOT)\SOURCES). The (boot) the script is referring to you need to disregard. but the problem you are seeing likely because... As an "aside" thought.... If my whole goal was to chainload a second partition with BOOTMGR to kick off a different installation version/bootmgr instance (and it is) then a more sensible way would be to add an entry(s) into the BCD file of the first partition that would have an option of loading th...

thanks Icecube! Can you post the menu.lst file? Not my project - just pic I saw on the internet... If you boot from CD (ISOLINUX), all entries with 'on first hard drive' will boot your internal HDD (in normal cases at least). When you boot from an USB stick (SYSLINUX), all entries with 'on first har...

Adding a HDD/partition menu listing to chainload partitions

Saw this today: http://multidistro.com/tinycore-shots/grub.png And I was curious on how it could be implemented within syslinux . I was thinking about adding this kind of listing as an extra handy menu. In the current release of ubcd (5.0b12) there is following code to load next device. LABEL - MENU...

Changing Amount of Lines for Helptext and updating borders?

I would like to increase the amount of lines that are used for the texthelp (from 4 to 6). I am able to do this by modifying the default.cfg from syslinux files to this: .... MENU CMDLINEROW -3 MENU HELPMSGROW -6 --- (originally was -4) MENU HELPMSGENDROW -1 .... However after this modification the ...

I had to put the -f last otherwise it (syslinux) would complain. It didnt make sense on why it wanted it last though.

Installing to USB-HDD - Modifications to UBCD Install Script

I was having trouble installing UBCD to USB HDD so modified the install script slightly. The script after modifications works great for USB sticks and USB HDDs. SET VOLUME_ID= format "%a2%" /FS:fat32 /V:%VOLUME_ID% /x /q "%~dp0\syslinux" -ma -d boot\syslinux %a2% -f xcopy "%a1%\*" %a2% /s /h /q Noti...

Jotnar, you refer to creating a bootable hard disk image... How do you do this for say the Dell E6400 diagnostic utility? This actually really easy. Go to Dell.com and download a recent Dell Diagnostics package (I used the one from Dell E6400). Run the install and once it extracts it loads up a pro...

@ icecube I just wanted to ask you, if you did try your approach with an iso instead of a USB stick and that you wanted to try the patched version. What I am currently doing is using the patched chain.c32 specifically for ISOs of my ubcd build. As for USB sticks I am using the syslinux 3.82 stock ch...

I do not know if this is related but in my testing I could not get any LENOVO laptop (tried X61, X60, T60, T61, W500, etc.) to properly load a floppy image - always would hang. Works fine on other machines (dell, toshiba, etc.).

thanks,
