AFAIK

I haven't used the latest version of UBCD, but I think the included free version of NTFSDOS can't write the changes to remove the viruses. You may want to remove the hard disk and scan it in another Windows 2000 based system (XP or better).

Two ways

Do it off a floppy if you have one, remember you can access the floppy when you boot off UBCD as it makes A: into B: Or Make a floppy image of command.com and the bios update program and rom file and burn to a CDR/W, either integrated into UBCD or using your CD burning program to convert the floppy ...

Re: Delayed Write Failed Error messages - C:\$Mft

I am getting this and cannot log into Windows at all (XP Pro, SP2). As I understand it, I need to make a change to the registry, but can't figure out how to do it with UBCD. Why do you think you need to edit the registry to get back in? I suggest trying chkdsk /r off the XP Pro CD's recovery consol...

Easy way: Boot off the Windows ME CD and type in: sys C: It will say "System Transfered" and then reboot off the HDD. Hard way (I'm hesitant to suggest this as your HDD size issue may come into play, but for others it's fine): 1. If the drive is blank (or in this case, you have no data on ...

Re: Loading SCSI drivers for a custom menu app?

I was looking at putting SCSIMax into the UBCD. Unfortunately, neither the FreeDOS nor the NwDsk boot disk include ASPI drivers (except ASPIUSB), which SCSIMax requires. Unless there is some sort of universal SCSI boot disk modelled after NwDsk, I think it's going to be difficult adding SCSIMax to ...

WDC 5.04c doesn't work?

I can't get the WDC 5.04c test to work, it boots into the screen where the legal form appears, but pressing the key to continute doesn't work. I've tried using the various boot options, but this has happened on every system I've tried it on. I'll have to check if the parameters of "c=80 h=2 s=1...

Re: New versions is out there

If you can find a freeware DOS registry editor, feel free to send me the URL! Otherwise, I think Offline NT Password & Registry Editor will do the job too. I found the IMG file however it's not as good as the Offline Editor for several reasons: It uses MS DOS. It's old. The author doesn't have ...

Ghost 2003

Ghost 2003 allows a boot floppy to be used, which includes external drive support. I suggest making a second image, based on the Windows 98 boot floppy and using WinImage to convert it to a 2.88MB image file, then copying the Ghost.exe file into it, and editing the last line of AutoExec.bat to inclu...

Re: 5 suggestions

I am not convinced of having a separate option to boot from floppy, since I am not sure if that many people will need it. If you really really need to do it, you can always drop to console and issue a "boot 0x00" or "boot 0x01" command. I didn't know it was possible to boot from...

From the FAQ: Question: Does the Ultimate Boot CD include FDISK? Nope. I was afraid if I did that Micro$oft might send their secret police after me! :-) But you can use Ranish Partition Manager, which is a very nice and capable substitute for FDISK. Or you could boot the FreeDOS image, which include...

I found one on the outdated Emergency Boot CD, but AFAIK it only works with Win9x.
