I don't know one out of my head.
But I remember that there where at least PCs where some apps didn't work with FreeDOS on some PCs, but worked with DR-DOS. as702 told me that, when he reworked the FreeDOS image.

Re: UBCD V5.1 alpha 2 available for download
This is if you don't specify the names on the APPEND line. HDT looks for those files in the Syslinux directory by default.pci.ids, modules.alias and modules.pcimap can optionally be gzipped (remove the gz extension afterwards), to save space and speedup loading.

Re: UBCD V5.1 alpha 2 available for download
Again, just to reduce future problems, remember the previous NOTE1: pci.ids can be gzipped, but the filename should be reset to pci.ids , not pci.ids.gz. This is not needed at all. Re: Newbie Here: Trouble finding the UBCD .exe file on HD
UBCD doesn't come in exe form, but in the form of an ISO image that is meant to be burned to a CD-R(W).
Maybe you wanted UBCD4Win, which comes in exe form.

For the files in "tools\win32\unxutils\bin", they are there for a very specific purpose i.e. to make IceCube's scripts in "tools\linux" work. They are not there for general usage. Hence I will only update them on a need-to basis i.e. if IceCube changes his scripts in "tools...

Re: UBCD V5.1 alpha 2 available for download
For the grub4dos, the HDT entry could be something like this: titleHardware Detection Tool V0.4.1\n Displays low-level information for CPU, PCI, video, memory, BIOS, motherboard,\n disks, batteries, enclosures etc. map --mem /pmagic/boot/syslinux/hdt.gz (fd0) map --hook root (fd0) chainloader (fd0)+...

It is not explained because the Syslinux installer doesn't do that. Someone added that to the wiki, but it isn't true.ady wrote:The only problem is that it doesn't explain how to do it, or the new arguments that makes it happen.

Re: rEFIt Boot Disk...
It is not possible to boot rEFIt with MEMDISK or grub4dos.
The rEFIt ISO is not a BIOS bootable Eltorito CD (which format is understood by MEMDISK and grub4dos), but a CD format only bootable on a Mac which uses EFI (the CD has hfsplus as filesystem).

Avira Antivirus will probably be removed from UBCD:

Re: Security concern: xbios possibly contains malware
It is normal that some tools on UBCD are detected by antivirus software.
Some of them do things, you normally don't want (like reading/resetting BIOS passwords).

Re: ISO won't start from within Grub menu...
Figured it out... What was the problem? I don't think the PXE scan takes very long. I never had much problems with it. You need to edit the embedded config file. You can open grldr (end of the file) in a hexeditor and delete "pxe detect\n" (70 78 65 20 64 65 74 65 63 74 0a): 0003f0f0 07 0...

Try with an additional slash: title My Boot find --set-root /ubcd/custom/ISO/MyBoot.iso map /ubcd/custom/ISO/MyBoot.iso (hd32) map --hook chainloader (hd32) Also try to enter the commands in the grub4dos prompt: Boot into the grub4dos menu, press "C" and enter each line separately and look...

Do you get that error directly, when you launch killdisk or only after some minutes?

Re: ubcd 5.03 locks up at all cpu-tests
It should work.
Try also the grub4dos menu to launch those entries.
Normally when you kill the current running CPU stressing program with Ctr+C, you get a menu from which you can choose the other programs.
Typing "menu" in the linux terminal does the same, if I remember right.

In custom.lst, uncomment at least: #color cyan/black black/light-gray green/black yellow/black Uncommenting title .. configfile /ubcd/menus/grub4dos/main.lst is advisable too, if you want to be able to go back to the main menu from within the custom submenu.
