Re: access cd drive

Hmm you certainly need to install a DOS driver (install from Config.sys and load through MSCDEX or equivalent through AutoExec.bat ) for your drive... unfortunately I don't know any pcmcia drivers, only IDE ones - maybe there is one on your drive's manufacturer's website ^^ Also make sure there is n...

I guess then you should manage to get a program to unzip files. That won't take so much room on your system, will probably be usefull again later, and will avoid the people who host the files to keep an uncompressed file when not really needed on their hard disk drives (and save bandwidth). Well, yo...

What do you call "an iso for linux" ?
If you mean not an EXE self-extracting archive, well there are Zip versions ... I guess you can unzip it from linux too ;)

The FreeDOS clones of MS Fdisk and Format are on the FreeDOS boot disk, which you can run by selecting in the menu "DOS Boot Disks" then "FreeDOS Boot Disk"... so you can use them instead. Anyway you may add customized boot disk images if you wish... i'm almost sure there is a tu...

As SteelTrepid said, the file size clearly indicates a corrupted file. Or at least it's not the file it should have been. But it is normal that the file size and size on disk are different, this is due to the fact that the file system allocates disk space by clusters ( which are themselves made of a...

Can anyone explain why the ISOs generated by mkisofs, with the exact same source and having the exact same size (195,698,688 bytes), end up with different MD5s? Maybe the files were not selected in the same order to be added to the file, or maybe the ISO file includes a "compilation date"...

Well i made a few attempts to generate an iso from burnt CD with IsoBuster but the file is always like 20 MB larger than the original, so of course it's not the same and md5 will be different :( I think the program used to generate the original ISO is mkisofs as it is named on this page ... but it d...

Re: Verify MD5 checksums for your entire CD

I'm guessing at a minimum it would have to have an exact name & date to match the MD5 values on the download page. Of course not. Only the file contents matters, its properties in the file system where it's stored have absolutely no importance to check whether to files are the same or not, so t...
