Re: UBCD V5.3.4 available for download
I don't think an extra torrent is necessary. Necessary is not. The rsync alternative is also not really necessary. But they are convenient. For users that already use the torrent download method, using an alternative torrent instead of the "full iso image" torrent would be very simple; si...

Re: UBCD V5.3.4 available for download
2015MAY05:
Partition-Saving V4.20 was released.
For users, it is recommended to read the changelog (and manual).
Also, a new program has been released by the same author, "Partition-Explorer".
Users should be very cautious when using these programs!

Re: UBCD V5.3.4 available for download
IMHO, the 2 remaining updates don't justify a new release of UBCD. I think there are at least 3 alternatives: 1_ Let interested users customize their current UBCD with updated versions by themselves (my preferred option), until additional updates are worth a new release. 2_ Attach / upload 2 floppy ...

In addition to the original tutorial, I made a script that was working correctly at the time: https://www.ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14652 Although it is recommended to read at least the first few posts of the topic, the latest version of the script is attached at: https://www...

Please, let's continue with relevant feedback in the announcement topic for the current UBCD Live version https://www.ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14828 . That would be version 0.2.2b at this time, and there was also a "0.2.1b" version with its corresponding announceme...

Re: Flashing Dell BIOS from UBCD v5
I was about to mention several differences between UBCD 4.1.1 and UBCD 5.3.3 in relation to fdubcd and the boot process, but instead I'd rather suggest alternative methods of flashing these Dells' BIOS. The information I am writing here is not a complete step-by-step, but just a generic description....

Re: Flashing Dell BIOS from UBCD v5
And last but not least: any idea why my method didn't work with UBCD 5 while doing pretty much the same with UBCD 4 works just fine? It is not clear to me what exactly you have done (or trying to do). Are you saying that you were/are trying to use on UBCD 5.3.3 the same method of DOS customization ...

Re: UBCD Live V0.2.0b available for download
For MY use, the only things missing here are: - chntpw Methods to change NT passwords are already included in the original UBCD. There are methods for Linux and for FreeDOS. It can always be updated (even manually); instructions in respective websites. - An easy way to change the keyboard layout - ...

Re: Flashing AMI BIOS
Under Windows, use RUFUS to create a FreeDOS USB flash drive (not external HDD) using FAT32 (not NTFS nor any newer file system) with BIOS/MBR settings. It is recommended for the USB flash drive to be up to 4GB (smaller sizes are fine too). Try to avoid using bigger USB flash drives for BIOS updates...

The simpler solution for you would be to use the latest version from http://clonezilla.org instead of playing with pmagic or with UBCD.

Re: How to Burn ISO onto CD
The following words might sound rude to some readers. On the contrary, my intention is to help prevent additional problems. Considering that a misuse of UBCD can cause many (irreparable) problems, I am of the opinion that if a user cannot find information about how to burn an ISO image to optical me...

In the Syslinux boot menu, it should had been "mprime28". In the boot menu, when highlighting "Mersenne Prime Test V28", instead of pressing "ENTER", press "TAB", and correct the mprime parameter accordingly. Then press "ENTER". That's a temporary wo...

Re: Syslinux when building USB stick
I assume you are talking about: ubcd533.iso -> ./ubcd/tools/linux/ubcd2usb/readme.txt In fact the steps are slightly inaccurate, and UBCD could include a script for this process (borrowing from GPartedLive/ClonezillaLive and adapting them for UBCD should be a first nice attempt). Regarding the 'sysl...

2014Dec21: http://tukaani.org/xz/ xz utils 5.2.0 for Win32 (there is also a new DOS version, for those interested) [edit 2015MAR21] Cygwin users should note that XZ Utils 5.2.x can lose data on Cygwin 1.7.34 or older. The bugs have been fixed in Cygwin 1.7.35 and thus XZ Utils 5.2.x works correctly ...

Possible alternatives: _ Connecting the USB devices in different USB ports, and performing a cold boot. _ Connecting ps/2, wired keyboard (and mouse). _ If the HDD is less than 2.1TB, try whether one of the DOS-based partitioning tools included in UBCD detects it and the keyboard works (with/without...

Re: Creating USB from OSX
The "dd" method you describe can be used with isohybrid images. UBCD ISO images are not isohybrid. Booting with SYSLINUX, the boot media for UBCD is expected to be formatted as FAT. The "dd" method generates a boot media that will use ISO9660, not FAT. Since I always use SYSLINUX...

Re: IBM/Hitachi Hard Drive Testing Tool query
For each boot item in UBCD, you will see a help text. Some of the IBM/Hitachi tools do no support every single model, but just a range. In addition, UEFI systems are not supported, as most of the tools depend on BIOS, including those from IBM/Hitachi. Sometimes there could be some driver that might ...

Testdisk and Photorec 7.0 WIP are being updated by their developer once in awhile. @ Victor , perhaps right before the next (or before each) UBCD release you might want to include their latest update (and perhaps also add their release date in the corresponding 'menu label', in addition to the versi...
