Re: add ubuntu 10.10 iso to UBCD
Open the ubuntu-10.10-netbook-i386.iso ISO with 7-zip and extract: /casper/vmlinuz /casper/initrd.lz and place those files in a subdir /ubuntu in your UFD. Also place the ubuntu-10.10-netbook-i386.iso in /ubuntu. Syslinux menu: Add the folowing to /ubcd/custom/custom.cfg: LABEL ubuntu_live MENU LABE...

Re: Windows XP Repair
Are you booting from CD or USB?
Is the file /pmagic/initramfs available on that medium?
Did you check the md5sum of your ISO, to see if the download was corrupt?

Re: UBCD V5.1 alpha 1 available for download
I'm not sure I understood. Are you saying the avira.cmd script should have resulted in "Windows-like" menu files(cfg and lst)? No, but the script can be fixed in a way similar like I have done it for syslinux2.gurb4dos.sh Checking the list of programs included in partedmagic.com , I haven...

Re: UBCD V5.1 alpha 1 available for download
The reason why they become Unix text files is because they are modified via sed in the script, which I think is unavoidable, since sed is a Unix app. There isn't a switch in sed that selects line ending types, I am afraid. When I originally created the sed scripts, they convert first all configfile...

Re: Kon Boot v1.1 not working with Windows 7
Only KonBoot v1.0 is freeware (and isn't compatible with Windows 7)
From KonBoot v1.1, you need to pay for it.

Re: Updated kernel to mount UFS2 FreeBSD file systems?
I think Linux doesn't support writing to UFS2 filesystems (at least according to wikipedia). You can try the following: How to mount a 'read-only' filesystem read/write? (top) Use mount(8)'s -u (update) switch: 'mount -u /'. More than likely, you booted single-user which mounts the root filesystem r...

Re: modification of boot menu
If you want to use a background picture in Syslinux, you will need vesamenu.c32 instead of menu.c32: MENU BACKGROUND background For vesamenu.c32, sets the background image. The background can either be a color (see MENU COLOR) or the name of an image file, which should be 640x480 pixels and either i...

Re: UBCD V5.1 alpha 1 available for download
Additionally, in previous versions, after customizing and editing the syslinux/isolinux menus, I used the script to update the grub4dos custom menus. Now that the method to customize DOS apps is going to change, is there anything different/new to consider about custom grub4dos menus? Or the script ...

Re: UBCD to Hard Disk
UBCD v5.0.3 and UBCD v5.0.2 both use syslinux 3.86, if I am not mistaken.
Installing Syslinux on /dev/da1 won't mess with /dev/sdb1.

Re: UBCD to Hard Disk
Are you sure of that statement? I seriously doubt it. UBCD uses features of Syslinux (VFAT long file support) that aren't available in v3.63. Also the COM32 modules, should be used with the Syslinux version for which they were compiled. The Windows version of unetbootin, might be using a newer versi...

Re: UBCD to Hard Disk
Syslinux 3.63 is too old. You need Syslinux 3.86.
Get the official syslinux binary (soruce + precompiled binaries) from: http://kernel.org/pub/linux/boot/syslinux/

Re: LBAcache / STAK nest error
Because it only fails on a very few models, I think a "nolbacache" MEMDISK parameter would be better. Or, if possible, let the "nolbacache" MEMDISK parameter, change the "/etc/global.set" file, from: nolbacache=0 to: nolbacache=1 So you can provide the "nolbacache&...

Re: Put UBCDOS on "Fuwi" MultiBoot USB-Stick?
Doing some research on the exact error message yourself, won't harm you. You need to make the ISO contiguous: http://diddy.boot-land.net/grub4dos/files/map.htm Booting UBCD as ISO with Grub4Dos can be found at many places on the internet. Parted Magic doesn't need to be extracted. The last versions ...

e.g. for the UBCD ISO image 'UBCD' create a text file UBCD.lst: title UBCD 503 \n Text to display at the bottom of the bootmenu screen map /grub4dos/bootimages/UBCD/ubcd503.iso (hd32) map --hook root (hd32) chainloader (hd32) Note: Not all programs on UBCD will work, when you use it this way. Re: UBCD V5.0.3 available for download
No problem here in Virtualbox. @ StopSpazzing The "\n" and "\r" in the grub4dos config files are intended. Everything after "\n" on the 'title' line is the help text displayed at the bottom of the screen. For the FreeDOS image "\r\n" is used in the write comma...
