Re: Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

It seems that I can't wait for the BusyBox release, so here's a minor release of my CPUstress image. CPUstress v2.1expl7 (9 March 2013) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70170658/ubcd/cpustress-2.1expl7.7z MD5: 481afd31a3774f00f7ffad67d4698a57 SHA1: f6f3780cfd901abd2d6682e137194ceeb28a97c9 Changed "help&...

Re: Cpustress - incorrect detection of cpus and keyboard pro

The number of CPUs in the script is from the /proc/cpuinfo file.

I can help you debug if you can give me the contents of /proc/cpuinfo of your computer.

Can you get one in Parted Magic and upload it?

Re: UBCD V5.2.1 available for download

Regarding the entries list in the homepage (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) CPU Burn-in, CPUinfo, Mersenne Prime Test, Stress, and StressCPU -> I think Victor can add a note like this: "Included in CPUstress." Just like the programs included in Parted Magic. HDDErase -> The note sentence s...

Re: Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

...... , since Victor already uses a similar format in UBCD as I am suggesting here for your help files (it is not a direct copy from your help files). My suggestion was (is) for convenience and easier reading in your help files (there wouldn't be a need to clarify the artificial use of an extra li...

Re: UBCD V5.2.0 available for download

During the discussion of the help files in another thread, I think the help files for PMagic should be updated, too. I mean the /ubcd/menus/syslinux/pmagic*.txt files. To save Victor's and other's time, I've summarized what information is outdated below. PCMan File Manager is replaced by SpaceFM . S...

Re: Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

- Image is now called 5.2b4. So the sequence is 5.2b1 => 5.2b2 => 5.2b3 => 5.2.0 => 5.2b4 => 5.2.1 etc. Reason why I am naming it this way is I am trying to keep the length to 5 characters to avoid adjusting the spaces in the title line in default.cfg in between releases. I know, I am lazy. :D Also...

Re: Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

I don't see "too many" files in "/ubcd/boot/cpustress/". There are pdf files in the images directory, which contains many more files. The menus have many files and they are not a problem. It may be just you. For me, there is a readme.txt already, and a changes.txt. I just don't ...

Re: Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

Victor, I think it would be better for the cpustrs*.txt files to be located in "/ubcd/boot/cpustress/" (and only there), so all the information and help files (and all potential changes and editions) are "contained" together in the same directory (except the boot menus, as usual...

Re: Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

II have implemented a 1-level menu currently because I am unsure what sensible defaults exists for the other programs (eg. Stress, with its large number of parameters - number of CPUs, threads, HDD I/O etc.). So I will hold off the 2nd level menu until I see a more concrete picture of the possible ...

Re: Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

After the user presses [ENTER] on the selected test, a second selection appears, which only corresponds to the options offered by that specific test. All is done in one cfg file only , optionally adding the two DISPLAY files that Explorer09 already prepared. As said, there are other ways. This is j...

Re: Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

Here is the content of the "help files": >> PAGE 1 You can press [TAB] to edit the boot options in isolinux. For CPU Burn-in , you can specify the time it runs by using either ' days ', ' hours ', or ' minutes ' option. By default, CPU Burn-in runs for 7 days (=10080 minutes), which is equ...

Explorer's modification of CPUstress image

This thread is for discussion of my (Explorer09's) modification of the CPUstress image. The original, Icecube's image can be found in this thread . After fixing the annoying kernel panic problem, I keep improving the image (including updating programs and fixing more bugs). The original bug-reportin...

Re: UBCD V5.2.0 available for download

You probably mean that I don't agree [that antivirus def files should be included] :), and you would be correct. Executing the 2 included scripts, or updating through the respective GUIs, is simple enough. A specific release of a newspaper has a life-span of, at most, one day (and in practice, less...

My intention is to save those few seconds rebooting the computer.

And thank you for your minor correction:

Code: Select all

CONFIG /ubcd/menus/syslinux/main.cfg /boot/syslinux/

Re: UBCD V5.2.0 available for download

Another license correction:
StressCPU2: It's open source under GPLv2+. You can see the copyright statement in the help text ('stresscpu2 -h'). The source code is available in the original website (here).

Add a "Return to UBCD" in PMagic boot menu (UI improvement)

I believe this UI improvement is trivial to make. Just add the following lines to the end of the "<ubcd>/pmagic/boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg" file, and you can see the "Return to UBCD" entry in the PMagic boot menu. MENU SEPARATOR LABEL return_ubcd MENU LABEL ^.. Return to Ultimate...

Re: UBCD V5.2.0 available for download

One more thing, Victor. This v5.2 release does not include the antivirus definition files. Is this intentional? I don't remember you made this decision before.

Why? My v2.1expl5.1 already includes mprime 27.9.

Re: UBCD 5.1 kernel panic running Prime Test

I don't understand what you mean with "but just for this case only". I mean there are not many distros that use linux.c32. I see only Parted Magic uses this. (Perhaps I use a wrong phrase here. I'm not a native English speaker. :) ) Anyway, CPUstress test v2.1expl5.1 http://dl.dropbox.com...

Re: UBCD 5.1 kernel panic running Prime Test

2_ The second difference is more relevant to this particular case. In Syslinux 4.06 (and older), linux.c32 is capable of booting newer (bigger) Linux kernels (like the one used in PMagic). The "traditional" directives ("KERNEL" or "LINUX") might fail in these cases. No...
