Need more info. Did you update defs/programs and try to rebuild the ISO? Did you run ubcd2iso.bat? If so, what exactly did you type at the prompt?

My ubcd is extracted to my D: drive so my command is:

D:\ubcd\tools\ubcd2iso\>ubcd2iso.bat d:\ubcd d:\ubcd\ubcd411.iso

Just about everything you'll ever need on DOS can be found with an internet/google search on DOS.

When your booting a Win98 boot disk you can select to do an interactive start up and select not to load that line for the Autoexec.bat and/or Config.sys.

I believe the boot disks included with the project also allow you to select this.

Did you run the chkdsk on the old drive as well? What were the results? Were you able to boot to the old drive prior to adding the new drive? If so, you could try booting to the old drive and copying the files to the new drive. Just set to boot to the old drive in BIOS and see if it boots. If the ol...

You can use a simple IMA or IMG file I believe. To create an IGZ file, you can compress the img / ima file using gzip or other qzip capable program like IZarc.. just rename the filename.img.gzip or whatever to filename.igz...

I have a few Windows Boot floppy images in my build and have had no problems with them. I put the compressed IGZ files in the custom directory and edit the custom.cfg file to add this: LABEL w98 MENU LABEL Win 98 KERNEL memdisk APPEND initrd=/custom/w98.igz I have DOS 6.2 all the way up to WinXP boo...

First off make sure the drive is connected and the jumpers set correctly (Master / Slave). If the new drive loaded with your OS and running fine, is it the same OS as the previous drive? If everything is loaded and running well on the new drive and you still can't access the old drive some testing n...

What are you using to try to back it up? If the new or old drive is a Seagate or Maxtor drives you should be able to use MaxBlast 5 or DiskWizard to run Acronis True Image 10..

Give a bit more detail about your setup and what you have tried so far and you'll get more accurate suggestions.

I'm not sure but for the project to be considered Open Source all the included programs may have to also be Open Source. Many of the HDD Diags and other tools are not Open Source and some of the other included programs are shareware and trialware so that may not work.

Drive Image XML is already included with UBCD4Win.

@ Adromeda - BartPE is a basic version of a PE environment and UBCD4Win is based on BartPE with a lot of included plugins.

Wolfgar2k is correct in that Drive Image XML requires a windows environment and UBCD (DOS) does not have that.

If you have never opened a drive before it is nice to see what is holding your data so go for it.

As far as just throwing the HDD into the trash - you should dispose of properly such as taking it to a recycling center. If your area recycles you can put it in a recycling container also.

Are the hard disk and CD drive listed at all? Not in the boot menu but other area? If not - see if it will autodetect the drives and if it does, then it should show in boot devices. If it's not, you may have to manually set the drive type in the BIOS. If you can dis-connect the drives and re-connect...

Your at the UBCD (DOS) forum.

You want www.ubcd4win.com/forum

And yes it's a false positive.

Also the version would be something like 4.11 - the 3.1.10a is the PE Builder that is used.

1. If the system supports booting from USB, you'll find USB devices listed in the boot order area of your BIOS... You may need the USB device plugged in while booting to see. 2. I had a floppy that would allow you to start booting from the floppy and change over to CD/DVD devices and/or USB devices,...
