Did you run the chkdsk on the old drive as well? What were the results? Were you able to boot to the old drive prior to adding the new drive? If so, you could try booting to the old drive and copying the files to the new drive. Just set to boot to the old drive in BIOS and see if it boots. If the ol...

Are the hard disk and CD drive listed at all? Not in the boot menu but other area? If not - see if it will autodetect the drives and if it does, then it should show in boot devices. If it's not, you may have to manually set the drive type in the BIOS. If you can dis-connect the drives and re-connect...
