I've yet to seriously play with AMD64 or Intel's version but I suggest using a 32bit mode in the BIOS just for trying to boot off the CD. Remember to re-enable 64 bit mode when you're done.

Again, just a guess.

If possible boot the system using a Windows 2000 or XP CD and go to "Recovery Console" and run chkdsk or chkdsk /r (bad sector scan), then you should be able to boot the system normally.

Otherwise, try NTFS4DOS, which should allow to copy the folder via DOS commands.

DOS only supports FAT12/16/32, you should try NTFS4DOS. There is a free trial available which works well.

I was comparing my custom version with a vanilla copy, I noted the first menu screen is a line shorter than the others so I added a line. Could this be the issue?

The next version will likely have NTFS4DOS on it, until then you can get the trial version of the program and use it either off a floppy or add it to the CD yourself.

I'm hoping for maximum compatibility on the next version. What's the upside to the new version of CD Shell?

I primary copies I use at work were copies of a 48x burn, made into an ISO there and then burns @ 16x (the lowest CD burn speed my DVDRW at work can do).

When's 3.4 out?

I took the 2 floppies Partition Magic 8 makes and used WinImage to merge them as a 2.88 floppy image, then booted it using memdisk. There's likely more threads on the specifics of it here.

I'm not familiar with the newer Symantec owned versions of the program.

I reburned the disc at 8x (the lowest my DVDRW at work can do) and it has worked fine since.

NTFS4DOS seems to need a boot disk with Command.com or equ. on it, I'm not sure how you got it to put its own version on there.

NTFSDOS (without the 4) is Sysinternals product, I haven't really tried it.

I'm very happy they've offered for this, which will make them a sale shortly. If you base it off a Windows 98 Boot Disk, use memdisk, If you base it off a Windows XP Boot disk, use diskemu. In either case, extract your boot disk image to a floppy, run the NTFS4DOS installer as it will handle all the...

Any ideas? My custom CD doesn't boot!

I've edited the UBCD into my own version which features a lot of proprietary software (Ghost03, NTFS4DOS, Norton Commander, etc) but now the version which I've tested on my Dell with a CDRW doesn't work on a number of systems. I'm not using that CDRW, but rather re-burned the ISO to CDR and I tested...

If you're going to be installing Windows NT/2000/XP or greater you don't need to format beforehand, the setup program will handle it.

Boot from 0x00, etc options?

What are all the possible options to boot off the CD to various other media?

I know:
0x00 = First Floppy
0x01 = Second Floppy
0x80 = First Hard Disk
0x81 = Second Hard Disk

What are the other options?

I want to help but I'm not sure what's an acceptable replacement for MS-DOS on UBCD. Can I use DR-DOS 7 since that seems to be freely available (http://www.drdosprojects.de/index.cgi/download.htm) or is there a simple IMA or IMG of FreeDOS? I've been using MS-DOS / Command.com 7.10 for all of my non...
