UBCD 5.1.1 slow at booting images

#1 Post by Bradders » Thu Dec 01, 2011 11:26 am

Hi guys - this is my first post!

I've just finished my first customisation of UBCD - not a bad first attempt however....

My test machine with (1Gb memory) is rather slow to boot my custom images (saved as .iso's) - namely EuroSoft PC Check 6.05 and my WinPE image. Is there anything I can do to speed it up? I'm hoping I'm missing something as I believe some of you have PC Check on your CDs. They're not gzipped which helps only a tiny bit.

The entry for my Eurosoft is below:

Code: Select all

LABEL -
MENU LABEL Eurosoft PC Check
LINUX /boot/syslinux/memdisk
INITRD /ubcd/custom/europccheck.iso
APPEND - iso raw
TEXT HELP
 v6.05
ENDTEXT
Hope someone can help!!!

Cheers

I forgot to mention, it fails at "copying files to ram", seems like something is preventing it to boot, or the Ram does fails at one moment ? Which tool do I have to use now ? Can I somehow use ubootcd to open a usb storage and launch "HDD regenerator" or some kind of memtest ?

You can run PLoP boot manager from UBCD and boot from USB even on PCs without support for USB booting.
Download Ultimate Boot CD v5.0: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html
Use Parted Magic for handling all partitioning task: http://partedmagic.com/
