Need Simple Instructions

#1 Post by drickard » Fri Jan 11, 2013 4:01 am

Need Step by Step Instructions to create "bootable flash drive" With all the current tools of UBCD

I know it's all on the site (somewhere) but i have yet to find a simple single page that puts all of this together on the site.

Most of the instructions I have found send you page to page to set this up which either puts up too little or too much instruction.

Again I need a simple step by step instruction for a bootable flash drive (dos preferred) that when booted brings up a menu of all the current tools of UBCD.

Thanks ahead ...

There are several alternative ways to put UBCD in a USB drive.

A_ UBCD includes a script under the "tools" directory, "ubcd2usb".

B_ Among several GUI utilities available, you could try http://www.sarducd.it/ for example.

C_ There is also a tutorial in the UBCD Wiki at http://wiki.ultimatebootcd.com/index.ph ... stallation.

I just read that SARDU includes BetterInstaller in that latest build.

Yumi would be a nice alternative. --> http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multi ... b-creator/

In SARDU, the user can opt-out so to avoid installing the extra toolbar and that's it. The License stated in SARDU's site is "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License", located at http://www.sarducd.it/tos.html. Whether that statement is valid / current or not, I don't know (as I don't have any relation to SARDU).

One advantage of SARDU is that it can update PMagic (by selecting both, UBCD and PMagic) instead of adding pmagic twice (at least this was the case the last time I tested it).

Yumi would be a nice alternative.
At some point, YUMI was reported (here in the UBCD forum) to have some issues with the included pmagic boot menu in UBCD 5.1.1. I don't know if the reported problem persists between the current version of YUMI and UBCD 5.1.1.

I guess the Wiki tutorial I linked to in my first post is the "best" for newbies that want to learn too, since it has step-by-step instructions, links to alternative instructions (for newer RMPrepUSB versions) and even a video (for an older RMPrepUSB version).
