How to Burn ISO onto CD

This is going to sound very newbie. This should be a very basic thing, but I can't find any definitive answer anywhere.

I downloaded the latest version of UBCD. I burned the iso image onto a CD-R using BurnCDCC. But instead of seeing this, like you said I should:

c:\ubcd-extracted\
boot\
pmagic\
ubcd\
autorun.inf
license.txt

I see absolutely nothing when I click on the CD Drive under My Computer. Did I do something wrong? This iso image still took up almost all the space I have on that CD. I really don't see any other way I could have possibly burned the image onto the CD. I followed the few simple steps that I was told.

There are many possibilities for the CD filesystem to not show up. You should try any of these until you figured out where your problem is.
1. Try reading the disc onto another computer (or another CD-ROM drive). This makes sure there're no defects on your disc.
2. Create a disc image (.iso file) from the CD you just burnt, and compare with the source CD image bit-for-bit. This verify the data on the disc, and distinguishes whether the problem is from the disc or is from the OS's filesystem driver.
3. Try booting with the CD.
4. If none of these work, just burn another disc with a different CD burner and a CD of different manufacturer. You just need one CD to do your work so you may forget the old one. Or try using a USB stick.

Still waiting on answer if this app will do damage to an SSD hard drive? I did find out the app worked on an older version of XP installed on an older desktop when trying to view what was on the cd. Any info would be appreciated.

The following words might sound rude to some readers. On the contrary, my intention is to help prevent additional problems.

Considering that a misuse of UBCD can cause many (irreparable) problems, I am of the opinion that if a user cannot find information about how to burn an ISO image to optical media then such user is better asking (or paying) for help from knowledgeable people (or PC technicians), instead of the "do it yourself" approach.

To be clear, the UBCD forum is about UBCD itself, and not about the specific tools included in it nor about "everything PC-related". And yet, there is a lot of helpful information already posted (hint: search).

If someone wants to learn, then it is better to read (a lot) before acting, and it is better to test the procedures and results on virtual machines and/or unimportant hardware and on data that has no real value.

Now, regarding tools / methods to burn an ISO image on optical media, in addition to some web search (which perhaps would result in more alternatives than what a newbie can manage), there are several links in the UBCD-related websites. Some links might be old (e.g. relevant for older OS).

C'mon, in the download page there are links already, pointing to some possible alternatives related to burning optical media (hint: read).

https://www.ultimatebootcd.com/faq.html
Read the info about ISO images and some burning tools, among many others.

Some relevant tips posted in the UBCD wiki.

Other links related to burning optical media under Windows:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/sortname/b ... tools.html

Some tools are simpler than others.

I am posting the above links just as general information, not as recommendation to use one application or another. I am not posting specific links for Linux because of the context in this forum topic.

Note: burning "data" is not the same as buring an ISO image on optical media.

Ady.
