[5b10]Keyboard stops working after some seconds on Mac

#1 Post by wildjohnny » Mon Jan 26, 2009 1:02 am

Hi,

I have an Intel PowerMac here where a HDD is supposed to be damaged. Since I used UBCD on "normal" PCs I wanted to use it here too.
Selecting the appropriate Tool from the first menu works fine but as soon as the software is loaded the keyboard stops working after 1-2 seconds. Quite funny as I can, e.g., select EMM/UMB/no UMB in the menu when I hit the key very fast but if I'm too slow the keyboard is gone. AFTER the menu where I can select which drivers to load the keyboard works fine and then finally freezes/gets disabled when I enter the software. So UBCD is unusable.

Any idea where this might come from and how to fix it? It's a USB keyboard as Macs don't have PS/2-Plugs. Dualcore Xeon with 2.4 GHz and 4 GB RAM.

Cheers

John

Very strange behavior.

Does it only happen with programs that boot the freedos image first?

Maybe it is somehow related with: http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2009 ... 11423.html.

Thanks for the fast reply. I could not check out yet if it's only happening when freedos image is loaded as the computer was not available to me last week. I think I can try it out this week and give an answer then.

Can you try UBCD50b12 and try the grub4dos menu entry for the program and see if it helps (probably not, but you never know).
