PXE boot - can it be done?

so I've been trying to get UBCD v5 to work over my PXE boot setup. But i'm running into issues. I've reconfigured all the pxelinux.cfg's and the menu's so everything points to where it should. I've extracted the entire CD to be available. However, when I try to load a utility (GWSCAN for instance), I get an error about a cdrom. Obviously there is no CDrom - and I get the following error
UBCD: Error!!! Missing ****.bat (check CD)
Is there any easy way around this? or should I just pull the packages I want to use and set them up individually for PXE deployment?

Google searches led me to a few old forums here, something about a work around using a custom dos image, but the link posted did not exist - so I didn't have the chance to test it out.

Sorry if this problem has already been addressed elsewhere, but I didn't see it.

thanks in advance for any advice :)

Yes it can be done, by using the small ISO, which contains the Freedos image of UBCD (floppy) and all necessary dos programs. Then you can map the ISO with MEMDISK or grub4dos:

sweet, works great!

would it be safe to assume I could just change every .img to .iso for the fdubcd initrd? and add iso to the append line for all the menu's?

Yes

Maybe the ISO version will become the default in the future. Some users have problems with the current method when UBCD is booted from USB (Freedos can't seem to find the files in /ubcd/dosapps/).
