Ok, so DBAN has a new version and it comes as an ISO file you burn to a CD:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dban/files/

How do we add this new version of DBAN to UBCD v5?

You get a better iso (newer ISOLINUX version) from:
http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.p ... opic=11923

If I find some time, I will make an ISO with ISOLINUX 3.86 (which should work on all PCs).

Just gzip the dban.iso file (dban.iso.gz) with z-zip and replace the file in /ubcd/images.

Thanks Icecube. So the ISOLINUX you linked to is newer than the one built into the latest version of UBCD5?

Ok, so I've added the new DBAN and SpinRite to UBCD v5, but when I go into the "UBCD FreeDOS R1.38 (Based on NwDsk V3.40)" I can't find SpinRite nor do I see DBAN anywhere.

Also, when I go into that and choose User-Defined, it just goes back to its main menu.

DBAN isn't a Freedos app.
Navigate to the right menu:
HDD ==> Disk Wiping ==> Darik's Boot and Nuke

How did you add spinrate?

I added SpinRite following the instructions in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2177

I used GZip and WinGZ to put the SpinRite ISO into a GZip file, but when I tried launching it the PC would just reboot so I followed the steps to add it as just the IMG file and it worked that way.

So SpinRite works, but I still can't find it when I go into "UBCD FreeDOS R1.38 (Based on NwDsk V3.40)".

Is SpinRite also not a Freedos app like the new DBAN?

Finally, when I go into "UBCD FreeDOS R1.38 (Based on NwDsk V3.40)" and try selecting the User-Defined option, it just goes right back to the main menu of "UBCD FreeDOS R1.38 (Based on NwDsk V3.40)".

Not if you added Spinrite as a floppy image like you did.

Freedos apps used by the FreeDOS image are located inside a CAB file inside the /ubcd/dosapps directory.

How would I add SpinRite as a CAB? Would I use something like WinCE Cab manager to cab it up or can I use WinRAR to cab it?

Is there a file I need to edit to add SpinRite to the FreeDOS menu?

Why would you want to add Spinrite to FreeDOS?
It is much easier to just boot the floppy image with MEMDISK.
It is also possible that spinrite will conflict with the memory managers used in the FreeDOS image.

I guess I'm just confused as to why there are two ways to access some of the applications on UBCD and why not all applications are available in both.
