accidentally changed something in hdd hex editor...
i was using ubcd on a laptop trying to fix the boot and accidentally went into a program, forgot the name, it was a hdd hex editor and i didn't know how to exit without saving so i hit a key and it changed a couple letters/numbers. i finally got out of the program but i think it saved what i had changed. i did a clean install on the laptop and put windows 7 on it. it runs unusually slow sometimes opening up folders and programs. it doesn't seem normal. i'm thinking these symptoms are due to the changes i made in the hex editor program to the hdd? could this be causing the laptop to act like this? if so, how can i undo the changes i made in the hdd hex editor program and put it back to default?
Re: accidentally changed something in hdd hex editor...
sorry to bump but I'm still looking for an answer. the program I used within ubcd was disk editor 3.0 I think.

There is no way to get the changed hex keys back, as you dont know what you did. So, what you could do is use the correct HDD tools on UBCD, from the manufacturer of the drive, to format it back to factory defaults, then reinstall windows 7.
