Password Recovery.

Hi everyone,
My teacher showed us a demonstration of UBCD at school and i found it really interesting. He showed us about the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor and I tried to use Offline NT Password & Registry Editor at home to recover a windows login password that i forgot on my old computer. I get up to the part where it asks if i want to reset the password/recover it or registry edit it (something like that) but then when i chose the 1st option (like the instructions says to do) it says that the SAM registry file is not loaded. I tried it a couple of times to make sure it wasn't and error but it keeps saying that. What should I do?
