UBCD can't find HDD

Hi all,

we have some trouble here with a Hitachi HDD so we decided to do a HDD check with the UBCD V5.0 .
BIOS knows this HDD and it is normaly working.

So I boot from UBCD (V 5.0 ) and start the Drive Fitness Test wich is signed for IBM/Hitachi.
The Programm is scanning the ports ..... and .... nothing found.
Lucky me had an UBCD (V 4.1), so i did the same and run the Drive Fitness Test.
The Programm is scanning the ports ..... and .... found the HDD.

1. Question: WHY ? Why the v4.1 found the Drive and the v5.0 not ?

Being happy about founding the HDD i wanted to do a Quick Test.
 I'm getting an error message, telling me that I can not test sATA drives. Bug ? Missing Drivers?

Then I start looking for another Check tool.
The only one which works with this Hitachi Drive was the ViVARD.
With this tool I found an HDD error: NRDY

2. Questin: Whatis NRDY ? I was looking for it with google but with no success. Maybe i tried the wrong parameters. Well i thought I will post it here... maybe someone has an idea.

That's it. Thanks for this very nice and useful collection in one iso File !!

According to the "Known Problems" section http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/bugs.html you can see there were several little problems in those UBCD versions mentioned, including problems with IBM/Hitachi HDD tools.

You could go to the Hitachi Storage website http://www.hitachigst.com and search for your HDD model, to know if it is supported by the tools currently included by UBCD.

If your HDD is indeed supported by the current tools, then you could either download (from the above website) those tools according to their instructions, or download UBCD 5.0.3 (if the correct tools are included).

Whichever the option you choose, you can check again your HDD with the current and correct tools.

About Vivard, I can't help you since I have never used it. Maybe someone else can help you with it, but I would try first using the correct tools from IBM/Hitachi.

If you download UBCD 5.0.3, check the download against the published checksums, to be sure the download is correct.

If you need further help, please provide more details, like the exact model of your HDD, and what problems you have noticed that made you think something is wrong with it.
