Path to registry directory for Windows 7

OK, I'm new and pretty much ignorant when it comes to all this behind the scenes software garb. And I'm sure this topic has been covered ad nauseum, but here it goes:

I can't log into my computer because out of nowhere it is saying my password is incorrect (which it isn't). I downloaded the UBCD and have gotten as far as step 2 where it says "Path to registry directory for windows..." I hit enter and I get the question again (I've done this numerous times with the same result). It seems obvious Windows/system32/config is not my default.

I've been at this all afternoon and have found zero help on the net. They all say the same thing, "The default is usually windows/system32/config. Just hit 'enter'". Not helpful. So, how do I go about finding the "path to registry" on a computer I can't even log into?

I'd love to get some help with this before I take my laptop outside, run over it with my car, and go buy a Mac.

Thanks
Lynn

Boot UBCD 5.0.3 and select Parted Magic. Then boot from RAM (first option).

Then once in Parted Magic find the tool "PCLoginNow" should be under Menu>>System Tools. This will let you reset/change or even clear the password without any command line knowledge or having to worry about if you did it right. After you are finished reboot and log in to windows. :D
