UBCD currently contains
HDDerase 3.1 - Released 1/27/2007
Please upgrade UBCD to HDDerase 4.0 - Released 9/20/2008

I don't know where you got that info about the current version of Secure Erase included in the current latest UBCD, but it is wrong. UBCD V.5.1.1 already includes version 4.0 of HDDErase.

only entry related to HDDErase is this one:
May 8, 2007 Added HDDErase V3.1. Thanks to Iceman for the suggestion.
If HDDErase got upgraded, the UBCD Version History somehow fails to mention it.
