Ultimate Boot CD

Damaged hard drives usually only get progressively worse the more they are used and when there is hardware damage they can lag. So the first thing you should always do is make an image of your Hard Drive.

You will need an External HD to do this.

1. Boot up to Parted Magic from the UBCD.
2. Use mount-gtk to identify the hard drive/partition you would like to recover (but do not mount it) as well as your external HD.
3. Open up LXTerminal and run this command:
ddrescue [path to damaged hd] [path to external hd and image file name]
ex: ddrescue /dev/sda3 /media/sdb1/backup.img
4. Once the image is made boot up a computer, download and install P2 eXplorer.
5. Right click on the P2 eXplorer icon in the task bar and mount the image. You will need to select 'all files' when you locate the image.
6. Once the drive is mounted you should now be able to see it in My Computer. Use Recuva to recover lost files.

I was able to boot up into my system which is poweredge 2600 with windows server 2003 but i don't see my hard drives.

Would I not be able to save the image to a drive that is on another computer on my network?

This is what I would like to do. I'm unable to properly network my computers tho. It keeps saying I do not have authorisation when browsing the networked computers...
