#1 Post by Lightmans » Tue Apr 26, 2005 2:40 am

hello,
i am currently downloading the UB CD Full Version.

And i wanna now, what is the best tool on this cd, to restore a lost harddisk partitiontable without loosing the files in the partitions.!?

because i have a 200gb harddisk with:
1 ntfs winxp systempartiton ca.80gb
2 suse linux 9.3 linux ext2 ca.9gb
3 suse linux 9.3 linux swap ca.1gb
--- extended & logical drives
4 ntfs 60gb
5 ntfs 80 gb

i have no other harddisk at the momment and i can only boot a cd or a floppy disk. any ideas?
thanks and greets,
lightmans

Hi Lightmans

The prudent thing to do is make an image of your HDD to work with on another computer or a second HDD attached to yours. That way if you mess up there is still the original in case the data is important.

If I had to work with only the corrupted HDD partitions I would try Insert on the CD or Knoppix Live CD, which is a large, free, download. But, a second HDD is the best...

Try TestDisk, under "Partition Tools".
