Help in using UBCD for windows to recover pc

I am using a Compaq business desktop. It is not bootable any more. Whenever I start it, what it shows is just a post screen then a blank screen with a cursor point blinking, nothing more.
And when I manage to get into the Recovery Console, at the C:\windows prompt, I just don't know which commands to use to recover it.
I have the UBCD for windows. Somebody please give me step by step instructions on how to recover my pc, either by using the UBCD or Recovery Console. Many thanks!

If your getting into the recovery console you can try using: "chkdsk c: /r" at the prompt - just use the statement between the quotes.
