HDD Format & NTLDR Error

#1 Post by MikeLeeB » Sat Apr 19, 2008 9:30 am

I'm a newbe. I installed a new 40gig Western Digital HDD but none of the UBCD format options worked so I got a 20gig seagate which worked. Then when I try to reboot for partition I get the error "NTLDTR ctrl-alt-delete" to reboot. Now when I open the ubcd via cdrom and try to access the HDD is gives the same NTLDR error. Is there a way to get the Western Digital HDD to work instead? Should I have gone strainght to partisioning instead?

Ok, Guess I didn't have to format the Western Digital. I went right to freefdisk and that worked fine. Then I was just playing and selected from UBCD *Boot First Hard Disk. The screen went blank for several minutes so I finally rebooted and now I get this repeating error, "extremly broken bios detected last ditch attempt with drive = 9f syslinux.zytor.com/sbm for more information". I went to the site but it doesn't say much. I tried deleting and install new partition but no change. I tried a different HDD and it worked fine. Any help please?
