Windows XP boot floppy

#1 Post by charles » Mon May 19, 2008 8:38 am

Hello everyone;

I have successfully added floppy boot disk images for DOS v3.3, v6.2, W98, NT4 NTHQ, and the Windows XP recovery console to my v4.1.1 UBCD. I would now like to add an image for a Windows XP boot floppy.

I created the floppy and tested that it will boot my computer from the A: drive.

However, I'm not sure what to put in the "custom.cfg" file.

I tried:
LABEL WinXP
MENU LABEL Windows XP SP3 Boot Disk
KERNEL memdisk
APPEND initrd=/custom/xp_sp3.img
but not sure if KERNEL memdisk is what I really need.

Can anyone help me out?

Also... is there some documentation on the commands and their parameters that go in the "custom.cfg" file?

TIA.

Charles...

That's pretty much what I have, although mine is not SP3, and it works fine.

Interesting... I was thinking that KERNEL should be NTLDR or NTDETECT.COM (that's what the floppy boot disk uses).

I tested it and the box boots A-OK (SP3 probably didn't change anything on the boot floppy -- so boot floppies for SP1, SP2, and SP3 are probably all the same).

However, I *really* appreciate someone confirming that what I used works for them as well.

THANKS!!!!

Charles...

BTW -- Is there any documentation on the commands and their parameters that go in the "custom.cfg" file?
