HELP !!! Prepare and install Vista on new hard disc

#1 Post by MikeyO » Thu Nov 06, 2008 6:42 am

I bought a Western Digital WD1600BEVE and put it into my laptop then ran XFDISK from UBCD4.1.1, selected a single partition of 160Gb NTFS. On exit I committed this and the laptop then took ages to write the info to the disc.

The laptop is an HP Compaq NX9105 laptop with 2Gb RAM.

I am now attempting to load Vista from the Vista CD.

The Vista installation keeps getting stalled and the reason is not consistent. The link is that all the reasons, when searched on Google, all relate to hard disk issues. For instance IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL has occured twice.

Can anyone give any guidance to what may be going wrong or what I can do to proceed with my installation.

Thanks in advance
