Problem with Winrar and 7Zip

#1 Post by Ern » Sun Dec 21, 2008 8:19 am

I'm having trouble getting just a single .iso file. I read the info on the download screen that there were reports of people getting what I was getting. Ive tried Winrar and 7Zip and they both are giving me the files from the .iso. Is there a way to tweak 7zip to not do this? I've done a search but couldn't find anything.

Which file did you download?
ISO image, Self-extracting 7Zip EXE or the Plain old ZIP file?

Standard 7zip should do that (long time ago when I used it, so maybe it is changed).
Look at the Preferences or Options dialog to see if you can find an option to turn this option off.
I have never seen such a behavior myself.

Try right clicking on the file and select extract ... from the context menu.

I will mess around with it again. I have actually downloaded all 3 from various mirror sites and they all do the same.

If you have downloaded the ISO. You have the iso, so I don't understand your problem with it.

Ya ok so I redownloaded the .iso again. Its in a zip so I click extract and out come all the files and folders that are inside the iso. It does this everytime.

This is aggravating. Does anyone have any idea whats going on?

Are you sure that it is a zip file and not the icon of winrar or 7z that you see, while it is a .iso file?

Show the file extensions for all files.

Now that you said that, it clicked. I went into the options of 7zip and there was a check in the check box for associated file types (.iso box). I took the check out of the box and it stopped doing it. It was extracting the files from the .iso.

Thanks, I think that fixed the problem.
