I have a similar problem like this: viewtopic.php?p=5396

i used ubcd 4,1 and used hdderase 3.1 to erase my drive.
after few hourse, i become impatient, believing something must have gone wrong, so i plugged out.
when i restarted, bios told me that my hdd is locked.

ive read several threads related to this problem. i bought an ide to usb adapter, tried mhdd but no success so far.

im becoming desperate, not knowing if the password locked by hdderase is wehter idrive or the longer one xty3fgds2h32j4kd02k9rfgep36435.

i kind of envy aznjjoe for him beeing able to reset it with mhdd :(

hi icecube !

sorry i just reinstall this latop comp with vista already , this is my boss comp. he wait for me 2 days now so sorry i couldnt test for you.

but i think this is a good ide that you put MHDD inn ubcdv5. it is powerfull utility.

i think it is strange that lenovo laptop 3000 n100 could not accpted
"idrive" and "xty3fgds2h32j4kd02k9rfgep36435" password.

but MHDD accepted ....wola ...

cheers for that Smile)

i will test next time if a have another laptop or my prv pc

regrads
joe

anyways i hope someone ll be able to help me.
help would be really appreciated

unlock didnt work for me.
especially since i was using hdderase 3.1, the code should be the longer one.

when i use mhdd to unlock the drive, it tells me that the operation failed.
anyways dispwd does nothing but say that operation has be done.

after reboot, nothing has changed so far :(

i bought a new hdd, since i have no clue in solving the hdd password caused by hdderase.
nethertheless am i not sure, if the hdd was already defect and i locked it up, because hdderase was not responding to it, or neither i destroyed the hdd by using hdderase on it.

anyways ill keep trying the locked hdd on another laptop.
looks like atapwd and mhdd are the only program which can detect the hdd as locked.

i connected via ide-usb adapter to windows but it coudlnt detect it.

anyone knows another option? help would be appreciated!

thank you icecube for suggestion.
the hdd is finally unlocked.

hdderase 4 has an option to deactivate the lock set by previous aborted operation.

i tried using hdderase 4 to erase the hdd, but it didnt come to an end.

i was then successfully able to erase the hdd using MHDD.

anyways to all ppl having the same troubles, dont panic, you cant type in the password by ur own, but hdderase 4 is able to unlock the hdd.

hopefully no one is going through the hard time ive had.
:)

You can try to unplug the HDD, boot UBCD from CD, reconnect the drive.
I am not sure if MHDD will detect your drive after the reconnect, but you can try.

Thank You ICECUBE

Thanks a lot, the HDD is unlocked and the procedure I followed was to remove the HDD and boot using the UBCD v5 and then connect the HDD.
After that i tried to Run HDDErase v4.0 and it itself has the option to UNLOCK the HDD.
Thanks Again for u'r help !!! :D
