Attempting to Resolve Boot options

Every time I try and start up my laptop I get an error saying there is a predicted failure on my hardrive. If I try and start windows it just restarts the entire computer and when I got o recovery it either freezes,restarts or gives me bluescreen.
When I try and attempt recovery or a clean XP install I start to lad the drivers and then get the infamous blue screen.
I have tried running chkdsk from another computer using a USB to Sata cable and it always freezes on me. I haven't been able to find a program on the boot disk that resolves this problem because the HD recovery program either freezes or I get stuck at a Q:\ screen.
Any helped woudl be appreciated and I will do my best to give better explanation.
