Possible Hard Drive Issue

#1 Post by BBURGESS16 » Tue Sep 01, 2009 12:49 pm

Hello,

I ran the Salvation Scan and Restoration Program & I get the error msg "did not find a hard disk drive! Forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question....but does this mean that I need a new hard drive? If so, would I be able to salvage anything from my old hard drive? My operating system was Win XP Media Center. Will I be able to at least restore that?
Help....someone. Please!

If you want to recover files from the hard drive, download a small linux distro (Puppy Linux, Parted Magic, Slax, ...). With them you can easily backup your files to a USB hard drive (or upload them to the internet or a FTP server). Then reinstall your Windows.
Download Ultimate Boot CD v5.0: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html
Use Parted Magic for handling all partitioning task: http://partedmagic.com/

Don't laugh, but I had to goto wikipedia to find out what a linux distro was. :)

Got the info that I needed. I'll attempt to do what you suggested, and I'll let you know how it works out. Thanx!
