PC won't boot from CD

I've got 3 different versions of the UBCD and never had a problem getting any PC to boot from any of them.
In other words, the CD's are OK.
On my own home built machine, went to use V2.4 and all I got was a flashing curser at the top of the screen.
Switched to the second CD Drive and got the same thing.
BIOS Boot sequence is set for first boot from CDROM.
Tried another CD, v2.1, and that didn't work.
Other PC's boot into UBCD from these disks.
This is a new MSI K8N Neo4 mobo.
The PC is operating with XP/SP2 fairly normal. I just want to run some tests off the CD.
Is this weird or am I?

Is this an AMD64 system?

Yes it is.
Brand new AMD Athlon 64.

I've yet to seriously play with AMD64 or Intel's version but I suggest using a 32bit mode in the BIOS just for trying to boot off the CD. Remember to re-enable 64 bit mode when you're done.

Again, just a guess.

Scott,
Familiar enough with BIOS settings but I sure can't find a setting for either 32 or 64 in the Setup.
I'm reading the book while I'm watching football.
Maybe I'll find it.
BTW, my XP CD with a slipstreamed SP2 does boot.

So you have the x86 version of XP installed?

I'm not sure otherwise why it won't boot. Did you try a different optical drive? That would be my last guess on this.

Yes, its the x86.
I also have 2 drives, fails in both.
Its not a crisis to me but I thought the developers might want to take a look, if they moitor this forum. I'm not an open source programmer.

There is a known issue with the version of CD Shell included on this release, I'm not sure when it will be resolved.

Thanks.
So their aware of it.
Ya know, I see there's a Version 3.3 out and I'm using 2.3.
Maybe I'll burn a new ISO CD and see if that works.
If it does, or doesn't, does posting back here have any impact on UBCD.
I think its great and would help any way a Windows Schlep can. 8)

It has to be some other problem. I used to have an AMD64 machine, and UBCD runs without problems.

CDShell does have some known issues with certain machines. This is well documented by some of the other posts in this forum as well. Unfortunately, the author of CDShell has no near-term plan to release any fix, AFAIK. So when UBCD V3.4 is released, it will be using the same CDShell version as V3.3.

Just burnt the 3.3 version and it won't boot. Same as the others, gets to the BIOS boot, displays "Boot from CD.." and than goes to the single flashing cursor. Works on 2 other XP PC's and one ME machine I have here.
So that's 3 versions of UBCD that won't work on this new AMD 64 machine yet work on others.
Just for S & G's, booted this machine to "Ubuntu", "Slax", a Windows XP, ME and 98 disk but won't boot to UBCD.
For me its no biggie, but as I said, maybe the developer would like to look at this.
Be willing to help if needed.
