problems with virus scanning

#1 Post by plux » Tue Jan 10, 2006 2:28 pm

Built two discs from two separate mirrors. The checksum matches on both with the proper checksum listed on the download area.

Both discs will boot the machine and I can run various disk diagnostics and managers with no error. However, when I attempt to run any of the virus programs, they all bomb with varying errors (hence the second disc being made).

I have attempted various settings on boot up/etc and tried it on another similar machine with the same result.

The machines I tested it on are both windows 2000 machines. I set ntfs on the boot disk in all instances as well as trying long file names. I have tested the memory extensively on the one machine and found no errors there.

Any suggestions?

What sort of errors are you encountering?

NTFS support for FreeDOS in UBCD V3.3 is spotty. The next release should do better. Therefore if you enabled NTFS, you might encounter unrecoverable errors (illegal instructions, divide by zero etc.).
