Adding Mepis linux or Linux using grub

#1 Post by bruce.one » Wed Jan 18, 2006 1:06 am

Hello,

I have already added a lot of to the fantastic UBCD. Now I want to add the Linux distro Mepis to it, but it seems as it das not use isolinux to startup.

The Layout of the CD (unpacked ISO looks like this)
about.txt
boot.catalog
license.txt
limits.txt
mepis.ico

\boot
version
initrd.gz
memtest86
vmlinuz2

\boot\grub
menu.lst
message
stage2_eltorito

\floppies
boot1.img
boot2.img
boot3.img
mkflop.bat
mkflop.sh
rawrite2.exe
README.txt

\linux
linux

\pkgs
\pkgs\fglrx
\pkgs\nvidia

My Question is how can the CD be started from within the UBCD Menu.
I have followed the docs for Knoppix (which works like a charm) and copied the root of Mepis into the UBCD.
But I had no success starting Mepis with diskemu /boot/initrd.gz nor memdisk /boot/initrd.gz

I dont know if this was the right way to do it.

Did anyone accomplish this already ??
Are does anyone have a hint where to dig ??

thanx bruce.one
