\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMced error

#1 Post by omgheather » Mon Jun 12, 2006 5:34 pm

I have this error on my win 2000 laptop.

I changed the BIOS to boot from the CDROM. I have the UBCD loaded and the menu comes up fine.

However which program do I use to fix the error: \WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMced is corrupt?

I researched it and it said Microsoft said it was the hive and my registry is too large apparantly.

Help! And Thanks!

One thing you can try is to do a registry clean while in safemode. That may help in reducing the size of the hive. There maybe alot of old stuff sstill caked in there that hasn't been flushed or removed and just needs a good cleaning.

This info is based off of your comment about the hive being to large.

First thing I tried was safe mode and it won't let me. I did all three versions of safe modes and it tells me I need the original CD's which I don't have.

Ugh!
