Bootable CD not supported

#1 Post by wquatan » Wed Aug 23, 2006 2:28 am

Some (older) pc's have a CdRom, but booting from CD isn't supported.

Is there a way to start the bootprocess from diskette and continue with the CdRom ?

In the past I did similar thing for booting dos from a Diskette+Zip, by means of SUBSTing drive-letters.

Would be great todo so with the UBC-cd in combination with a Diskette or USB-stick (I know it's possible to have the whole UBC on a stick)

Thanks

This is cover in the FAQ:
Question: My computer does not have the option of booting from CD in the BIOS. How can I use the Ultimate Boot CD?

[Contributed by Jim Goodman] Download Smart Boot Manager from http://btmgr.sourceforge.net/ and install it on a floppy disk. Set your BIOS to boot from floppy. After the floppy boots you will be able to boot from any drive that is connected to the computer, including the CD.
