Will boot CD work for my old computer?

#1 Post by DrDunkfunk » Thu Mar 12, 2009 1:27 am

I was wondering if the boot CD would work for my old computer, it was probably made in the mid 90's and it has Windows XP on it, but when I turn it on will load and it will say unable to acquire hard disk drive or something like that, then it will say something about not being able to get in BIOS. So I was just wondering if it will work or not. If you need more details just ask.

Unplug it and take out the cmos battery..wait few hours or overnight and replace the battery and power cord. Try turning it on again and see what it says.

Sounds like its an issue with the motherboard...could be "fried"...maybe due to a power surge (not being on a surge protector).
