The new release of UBCD (when it will be released?)

#1 Post by xeros » Mon Nov 07, 2005 3:12 am

Victor,
when can we expect the new version of UltimateBootCD?
It's a lot of time since the last version was released.
Most of the software needs to be updated to the new versions.

(Too bad, that new Insert Linux haven't been released since few months, but the last version is newer than this in UBCD.)

Any release date?

Hi Victor,

I appreciate the work that you have done on UBCD and I also know that we are now comming up to Christmas and you many have other things to deal with :-)

Do you have any indication as to when we might expect to see v 3.4 ?

Kind Regards

Simon

Actually, at my end, I am ready to go. However, Erwin is waiting for a patch to FreeDOS. Once that patch is released, V3.4 will be released. I will check back with him after Christmas.

Where to check current version numbers?

Hello, where can I check the current version numbers of the programs, that will be included on V3.4? I was unable to find reference (maybe I wasn't looking thoroughly enough).

I just want to make sure, that these programs upgrade:
Partition Saving 3.0 -> 3.01
mhdd32 4.2 -> 4.6
testdisk 5.7 -> 6.2
(though i did not test the latter).

I would also be happy to find some img'd programs, which are DOS programs at the same time, to be included in the DOSAPPS dir. Notably, Ranish Partition Manager (which has a DOS version) and mhdd32 are two examples which I use frequently, and find it convenient to launch them from there when I'm already running DOS.

Partman.exe (Ranish Partition Manager) is included already on the central FreeDOS boot-image on upcoming V3.4 release. In fact it may already be there on V3.3. Did you try run "help" on the DOS-prompt to see what is available on the image itself (light [Scroll-Lock] and press [Up-Arrow] to browse back your DOS console if it scrolls of the screen)?

Victor,
could you tell us how is the progress on UBCD 3.4?
Did you get already this 'FreeDOS patch'?
What does this patch?

Could you at least release the UBCD 3.4 Beta/Release Candidate for us to test?

Erwin has released the updated FreeDOS for UBCD. The bottleneck is totally on my side now. Due to a couple of almost comical mishaps, I have been unable to get my broadband connected, so I am still (barely) surviving on dialup. Try uploading 100MB of data through a miserable 56K modem!

Anyhow, with any luck, I should be able to get broadband connected next week or the week after, so UBCD 3.4 should be out by then. Appreciate your patience.

HI everyone! I just signed up!
Thanks to a nice person on another forum, i was made aware of this gifted "all-in-one" software. I congratulate and thank the author of this software for his excellent benovelent work! It's really nice to have such a nice human being doing such nice work!

I was about to download the version 3.3. But as i visit here, i saw a new version is on the way.
Should i download the version 3.3 anyway or should i wait for the new version?

Regards!

It depends. If you have a lot of bandwidth to spare, I don't see why you shouldn't play around with V3.3 first. Otherwise, please wait for one to two weeks and I promise V3.4 will be released.

Actually, not. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

update issues

#12 Post by dang.artman » Sat Feb 04, 2006 1:18 pm

I am in anticipation of the new ubcd. Until then I am trying to update the disc myself and am running into problems trying to get it to work. I use this every day for work. So far I have created my own *.igz file for memtest 1.65 and cannot get it to boot. I am using the build.bat file, and made the file using rawread, but when I tried to boot it the first time using VmWare it said file not
found, dropped me to the cd shell command line. I noticed my file name was not being recognized properly by typing ls. So i shortened the filename to eight characters. Now it loads the image, but it starts loading and the trys to boot off the floppy drive. I took a snapshot if that will help. I can e-mail it to anyone who may be able to help.[/img]
