 Post subject: One suggestion - Update the help documentation

It does not inspire confidence when the documentation is referring to out of date versions. If the program gets updated the help needs updated its as simple as that.


(Also on disc documentation that gave a brief description of each tool from the boot menu would be nice and not fantastically difficult to implement i imagine)

I have removed the "docs" directory in UBCD V4.0.

Reason is because the original maintainer for "docs" does not have time to do it any more. And it takes lot of effort to keep it up-to-date.

In subsequent releases, I may consider adding a synopsis for each app. This is pending an enhancement to the Simple Menu System that UBCD V4.0 uses.

Have you considered to include a wiki on your website in order to let the community (TM) do the work? Is it worth while? Do you think that the community has enough active members to take care of the wiki?

Surprisingly, I found only one post in this forum asking for a wiki.

Oh, and I prefer MediaWiki wikis. ;)

The way I see it, the websites for the various apps included in UBCD already do a very good job of describing what each app does, so I think we should not duplicate this content online in a wiki.

For the few apps that do not have websites, or whose websites do not provide sufficient information, we can always discuss them in the web forums.

The original purpose for the "docs" directory in previous versions of UBCD is to provide offline documentation for UBCD users who may not have Internet access when they are troubleshooting their machines. It involves pulling down the various app websites into the "docs" directory for offline access.
