At the moment I am typing this post...
I want to point out that at the moment HWINFO for DOS v5.5.5 was only posted for testing. The latest official announcement at this moment is still for version 5.5.2, and at least some of the official download mirrors are still offering that older version.
Is this still true? As far as I can tell, v5.5.5 is official on their website.
The only change in the official website is that v5.5.5 is linked in their own "download" page and says "5.5.5" with the date of the new file. The same download page still mentions an old "changes" item (corresponding to an old release).
The official mirrors are still providing v.5.5.2 for download. The only place to download v.5.5.5 is the main website (not in the mirrors).
In the official forum, there are "announcements" for the Windows-based releases. The latest "announcement" topic for a DOS-based release is still for version 5.5.2.
In the official forum, in the topic that triggered the new HWINFO v5.5.5, the developer explicitly says that, considering that there has been some time since the prior DOS-based release (v5.5.2), the DOS-based program was "in effect" phased-out. And yet, in the same forum topic he posted a link for this v5.5.5 version so the reporter of the alleged problem would test
it and report feedback. As it happens too-frequently, there is still no feedback about this version (and the post is already a-month-old).
So, this is the current state of the situation (facts). There is no changelog for v.5.5.5. Whichever problem was in there in the prior version, there is still no feedback (and at this point, I wouldn't keep waiting for it) and no mention about what changed. The official download mirrors still provide v5.5.2 as "latest" version.
